Botanical name: | Populus Tremuloides |
Weight: | 420 kg/m3 |
Origin: | Canada and Northern America |
The stated weight (kg/m3) is measured with a moisture percentage of approx.12%. Its nearly white sapwood gradually turns into its light brown heartwood and therefore it is difficult to distinguish. The wood has a fine uniform texture and is straight grained. Furthermore, the wood is light and soft with low bending strenght and stifness, and medium shock resistance.
Aspen is mainly used for furniture elements, doors, frames and interior panels. Due to the very low heat conduction, it is also frequently used in the construction of saunas. Also important, is the relatively low pricing range.
